Perfect Sip: Cold Brew with Raspberry Cold Foam
Why it Works: Dark, bold, and a little fruity—this drink starts off smooth, but that blood-red raspberry foam adds a dramatic edge. Just like The Boyfriend, it keeps your attention sharp and your nerves tingling.

About the Book

When a seemingly perfect romance takes a dark turn, secrets start to bubble to the surface—secrets that could ruin everything. Told in alternating past and present timelines, The Boyfriend keeps you guessing about who can be trusted and how far someone will go to protect themselves.

My Opinion

In true Freida McFadden fashion, The Boyfriend delivers all the twists, red herrings, and gasp-worthy moments you could hope for. I loved the dual POV and how the audiobook’s two narrators brought extra life to the story. The alternating past and present timelines added depth, giving you pieces of the puzzle while keeping the bigger picture hidden.

True to form, McFadden drops “clues” in the past that make you question everything in the present—like whether Sydney’s stalker is truly a random stranger or someone from her boyfriend’s past. Sydney finds plenty of hints along the way, but she jumps to the wrong conclusions just as often as I did. Honestly, it’s refreshing compared to thrillers where the protagonist magically solves everything. I followed the path McFadden set… only to be completely blindsided by the big reveal. And that epilogue? It’s the cold foam on the cold brew—don’t skip it.

The only reason this one didn’t hit a full 4 stars for me is that parts of the plot dragged and Sydney’s character never really grew. That said, it still delivered plenty of twists, solid development for the other characters, and a strong overall plot.

Final Thoughts

I love a good Freida McFadden read—fast-paced, twisty, and always satisfying. When my TBR pile feels overwhelming, I know I can grab one of her books and be in for a wild, binge-worthy ride. This one was no exception.
